News broke over the weekend that foreign hackers had for months been secretly monitoring email accounts and exchanges between the US Treasury Department and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, gaining access through Microsoft’s Office 365 software, according to Reuters. The attack was sophisticated enough to trick Microsoft’s authentication controls, the report said.
